12/19 - 12/25

This week we helped 2 families, with 6 children each, get gift and food donations. 3 people got a ride to the freestore and they each had the information necessary to get their neighbor, whom could not leave the house, a food box to bring back to them. We submitted an application to gain Kroger rewards for the organization. I will give more details on how this helps and how to sign up in the coming weeks.

The facebook group: The Good Samaritans of Cincinnati, has been a inspiration and helpful tool as I have been forming Neighborhood Allies. I have connected with many people from there and have received a lot of offers to donate or volunteer to help. Today I utilized an offer and had someone post the area I was in to see if anyone needed food or other things. It worked great. No one got connected or needed help right then, but I gained an example of people’s innate desire to help others and how that can be utilized to improve inequalities and strengthen community.

Right now I see a reoccuring need for:

  1. Hygiene items, toilet paper, feminine protection products

  2. Diapers (any sizes)

  3. Home cleaning supplies, laundry soap

  4. Pest control (traps or poison for mice, roaches or bed bugs)

  5. Space heaters

  6. Blankets, pillows and foam mats(or other easily transported alternatives to a mattress)

  7. Bus pass cards, gas cards

  8. Jobs!!! (I have 6 people that want and need to work.)

  9. Housing (Help paying a security deposit, apartments under $400 a month, help people to apply for subsidized housing)

  10. Vehicle donations

  11. Pledges to cover 1 or more months of car insurance
